Bilingual Phlebotomist

Location: Fort Worth, TX

Duties:

  • Performs proper procedure to obtain blood specimens, especially when it comes to proper patient identification.
  • Function as liaison between Privia Labs and physician's office, providing excellent service to patients, providers, and staff.
  • Responsible for ordering and stocking supplies and discarding expired supplies.
  • Unpacking supplies and putting them away.
  • Review NextGen (EHR) requisitions for missing diagnosis codes, recurrent lab orders, and missing information.
  • Print and / or send requisition from EHR to LIS if requested by the office.
  • Ensure proper specimens are drawn for the test(s) ordered.
  • Ensures phlebotomy area is clean and organized, making sure biohazard and sharps are disposed of properly. Always following all health and safety protocols and procedures to maintain sanitary and safe work areas.
  • Assist at the main lab when needed.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Assist patients in any way needed.
  • Instruct patients on the proper way to collect specimens.
  • Address any issues with Office PTL, Phlebotomy Supervisor, or Laboratory Services Director.
  • Attend required staff meetings.
  • Inform Office PTL, Phlebotomy Supervisor, Laboratory Services Director of any problems with patients, test, computer equipment, or lab equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Office PTL, Phlebotomy Supervisor, Laboratory Services Director, or Clinical Laboratory Director.

Job Requirements:

  • Speak, read and write in English and in Spanish.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be highly detail oriented with the ability to focus for long periods of time.
  • Able to follow regulatory requirements to handle biohazard materials.
  • High School Diploma/GED and 1 year of laboratory experience or Phlebotomy license.
  • Knowledge of medical (laboratory) terminology is helpful.
  • Knowledge of accessioning is a plus.
  • Must be Phlebotomist Certified
  • Must have a Medical Assistant certification, diploma and/or transcript
  • BLS required and/or obtained within 30 days (offered at our facilities)
